Muncie, IN—It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Excitement is in the air as we enjoy festivals and lights with our family, purchase last minute gifts, and prepare our homes for our loved ones coming into town for the holidays. What happens when your children are grown and live out of town unable to make it home for Christmas? Or your loved ones have passed away and you have no one to enjoy this special time of year with? The most wonderful time of the year is a distant memory for many older adults who are isolated and alone.

This is where AngelWish comes in. AngelWish is LifeStream Services’ annual holiday program to make the season bright for older adults who have no one to share it with. LifeStream, with the help of volunteers, will deliver 1,436 AngelWish gift bags in East Central Indiana by December 24. This is often the only gift many of the recipients will receive.

One recipient, with child-like awe and wonder, opened her AngelWish bag, gently laid out her gifts one-by-one, and explained:“I can’t remember when I’ve ever received a gift like this.”

AngelWish is more than just material goods. It delivers hope and a sense of community for older adults who thought they were completely alone. No matter what holiday program you support, it is moments like these that remind us why we do what we do.

Although LifeStream’s AngelWish program is wrapping up, we encourage you to reach out to your elderly neighbors. You don’t have to deliver a gift—sometimes it’s simply the visit from a friend that they need the most. Together, we can make this the most wonderful time of the year for older adults in our community.
