Muncie, IN – One of the main values that Thrive Credit Union lives by is “community.” That is why the credit union began looking to recognize leaders in Delaware County who are helping the community “thrive” with the Thrive Community Leader Award.

The first Thrive Community Leader Award was presented to Kevin Nemyer on Wednesday, June 21st. Nemyer is assistant director of the City of Muncie’s Community Development Department.

Nemyer was nominated and selected for being an outstanding Delaware County resident who shows commitment to the community and has helped it thrive. Along with his position in the Community Development Department, Nemyer serves as an elected member on the Liberty-Perry school board and previously served on the Delaware County Council.

“He has a great leadership style,” said Community Development Department Director Terry Whitt Bailey. “He is involved in many different activities that are all relevant to his background.” Whitt Bailey also agreed with Nemyer’s nomination application, which said “his work on the council rescued the County from dire financial straits, and put the county back on the right track.”

As part of their award, each Thrive Community Leader Award recipient is able to select a non-profit of their choice to receive a $100 donation. Nemyer selected Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware County to receive this donation in his honor.

Once a quarter, Thrive will accept nominations for local leaders who are helping impact the Delaware County community. Thrive is looking for all types of leaders, as long as they are helping others in positive ways. “It can be someone who effortlessly volunteers for a local charity or a teacher that is positively impacting his or her students. We want to recognize all types of leaders who are doing great things in our community” said Brittani Richards, VP of Marketing & Branch Operations at Thrive.

Thrive is now accepting nominations through August 1st for the Thrive Community Leader Award.
