Muncie, IN—Muncie Civic Theatre proudly presents The Taffetas, in the Studio Theatre. Audiences are invited to see this powerful production running March 24 through April 8.

From the Ball Jar to the Big Apple, The Taffetas takes us on a musical journey through the 50’s featuring the songs “Sha-Boom Sha-Boom”, “Little Darling”, “Johnny Angel”, and more. Four singing sisters in perfect harmony, and perfect taffeta dresses, lead us back in time for this lovely musical.

The Taffetas by Rick Lewis made its off-Broadway debut in 1988. The show captures an innocent nostalgia of a simpler time through the music and hair styles, but also in the hopes and dreams of the four sisters, who are trying to break into show business in the early 1950s. Finding our way through the big hair and hairspray, the 46 featured songs will remind us that this is all about the music. We can connect with the four women not only as singing sensations, but also as friends, sisters, daughters, and sweethearts. Lewis chose to have the girls hale from Muncie, IN – as a result of the popular Middletown studies that gave us the distinction of being the quintessential example of small-town America. There is an abundance of clever references to Muncie – making The Taffetas even more personal and special.
