Gordy Fine Art and Framing Company is a locally owned business that offers expert design and craftsmanship for framing works of art and treasured family possessions. “We love to work with individuals to develop a framing solution that is visually appealing to them and also preserves the piece for years to come,” comments Carl Schafer.

For Barbara, it’s the stories behind the pieces that she finds most interesting.  “So many people who come into the shop want quality framing not because the piece is worth a lot of money but because it is so important to them – grandmother’s embroidery, a child’s artwork, or a family photo.  Other times people are creating a keepsake of their own achievements – a diploma, military ribbons, or a sport’s jersey.  I am so honored that they trust these important personal treasures to our care.”

Owners Carl and Barbara Schafer have spent 25 years in the museum profession.  They continue to build on Gordy’s statewide reputation for museum-quality, antique frame restoration and reproduction.  They have worked with individuals, private collectors, and museums such as the David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State University and the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art to restore antique frames and to handcraft appropriate reproductions from scratch. They will work with their clients to research and design an appropriate frame that is historically accurate.

Gordy’s experienced staff offers a broad range of related services — including placement of art in corporate spaces, construction of display mounts and pedestals for three-dimensional objects, and packing and crating of works of art and fragile items for shipment.  Art and antique appraisals following the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice round out the services.

Gordy Fine Art and Framing Company is a leader in developing Muncie’s identity as a center for art and culture.  They represent regional artists in their gallery. Paintings, prints, and ceramics are crafted by artists with local connections. Braydee Euliss, Gallery Manager, is deeply involved in the arts community and loves to promote the works of new and emerging artists as well. “Our gallery has proudly supported East Central Indiana’s vibrant creative community through exhibitions and presentations for fifteen years. The benefits of providing local artists with a platform to share their work extend far beyond the immediate community and builds Muncie’s quality of place,” states Braydee.

The Gordy’s staff gladly invite you to attend one of their exhibition openings on the first Thursday of each month (except January and July) from 5 – 8 pm.  They would be very glad to share a drink and get to know you!
