DreamFest coordinators of Saturday’s Experience Festival contacted winners of more than 25 prizes at Saturday’s DreamFest. The winner of the biggest package, a four-day trip to Los Angeles with VIP tickets to the Ellen DeGeneres Show, was Chelsey Burton, a resident of Farmland and fourth grade teacher in Winchester.   Other key “Golden Ticket” prizes were dinner and a plane ride for three, a ride for two in a hot air balloon, a Lake Michigan fishing trip for four to Grand Haven, Michigan, and a behind-the-scenes basketball day with the Ball State University athletic director.

A highlight of the day was the World’s Slowest Bike Race between City of Muncie and Delaware County employees. Each group did two heats to determine which three of their riders would compete in the finals. Winners had to come in last without touching their feet to the ground or turning the bike over. WLBC radio personality Steve Lindell rode among the riders and made remarks about their performances. Race “winners” were Delaware County employees.

“Nearly 800 people attended DreamFest, in spite of periodic rain all afternoon,“ said Kellie Arrowood, co-chair of the event “Those who came said they loved the chance to do so many kinds of activities from riding in the back of a monster truck, to painting or playing a giant Jenga game. It was the kind of event that makes folks feel good and an opportunity we hope to repeat.”

DreamFest, held at the Delaware County Fairgrounds, was a fundraiser for TEAMwork for Quality Living. TEAMwork’s mission is “empowering people in poverty toward self-sufficiency.” Many of the people who attend the afternoon’s festivities were low-income families who received free “Dream Kits” to attend, including free admission, experience tickets and a “Golden Ticket.”
