Muncie, IN – Open Door Health Services is announcing their CEO, Toni Estep, will retire at the beginning of June 2016 after nearly four decades with the health care provider.

Estep began with Open Door Health Services as a WIC Coordinator in 1979. From that role, she worked her way up through the organization ultimately being named CEO in 2000, where she has served for 16 years. In total, she has given 37 years of services to the mission of Open Door Health Services. She has seen the organization grow and change over her many years and led the organization through building moves, mergers, opening new clinics, and growing into the well-regarded certified health center it is today.

“Open Door has truly been my life since I walked through the doors at our office on Hoyt Avenue in April 1979 to job share as a part-time Nutritionist with the WIC Program!  How my life changed,” Estep states.  “Although the organization has changed by name and my job duties over those 36 years has grown dramatically the people that are a part of Open Door have stayed the same—the wonderful, caring and compassionate staff and the clients that are needing the basic necessities for living and raising their families such as food, medical care and much more!  I will miss it all!  Although change is hard (really hard) I am looking forward to my ‘Chapter Two’ and what it will hold.  I do know that Open Door and this community will still play a huge part!”

Toni’s faithful leadership and encouraging spirit will be missed deeply. The impact that she has made during her years at Open Door will never be forgotten. Open Door is forever grateful for her dedication, passion, and love for Open Door and its mission.

Upon her retirement, Toni plans to split her time between consulting work and spending more time with her grandchildren.

The Open Door Board of Directors has begun a search for the organization’s next CEO. The search is being conducted within the community, and across the Midwest.
