Richmond, IN  – The newly formed Eastern Indiana Regional Planning District (Eastern Indiana RPD) has been designated by USDA Rural Development as a Stronger Economies Together (SET) region.  Consisting of Fayette, Randolph, Rush, Union and Wayne County, Eastern Indiana RPC will now benefit from a focused initiative to explore regional economic advantages and to formulate an economic plan for their multi-county region that strategically builds on the current and emerging economic strengths of that region.  Eastern Indiana RPC will be joining 21 other regions across thirteen states participating in SET during 2015.

As part of the SET program two public forums will be held to give residents in Fayette, Randolph, Rush, Union and Wayne Counties a chance to participate in developing an economic plan for the Eastern Indiana RPC region. Participation in the forums is free, but registration is required. The forums will be held on the following dates at the following locations:

October 27th in Richmond from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn
6000 National Road East, Richmond IN 47374

October 29th in Connersville from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Miller Building
2900 Park Road, Connersville IN 47331

Launched in 2010 by USDA Rural Development and the nation’s four Regional Rural Development Centers, the Purdue Center for Regional Development and their land-grant university partners, SET is now in place in more than 70 regions in 31 states. SET is intended to help strengthen the capacity of communities/counties in rural America to work together in developing and implementing an economic development blueprint for their multi-county region, one that strategically builds on the current and/or emerging comparative economic advantages of that region.
