Lexie Robertson led Yorktown – both from the plate and the mound – to victory against Kentucky on Monday 13-7 to improve to 2-0 in pool play at the Little League® Central Region Majors (12u) Softball tournament in Indianapolis. Yorktown continues play Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The earlier contest is a continuation of a game that was postponed from Sunday (due to weather) against Ohio from Sunday. The Tigers will pick up play in the bottom of the third inning up 7-0.  The later contest is against Illinois, who is 1-2 in pool play.

Robertson reached base three times, scored two runs and had one RBI.

On the mound. Lexie held Kentucky hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

The Tigers jumped out to a big lead, scoring eight runs in the top of the first.  The inning included an RBI double by Ainsley Phillips, an RBI single by Katelan Godwin, and a two-run single by Anna Stanley.

Pool play concludes today, and the top six (out of nine) teams advance to tournament play on Wednesday. For the most up to date tournament information, please visit www.yorktownjaa.org.
